Good Vinyl for my Subaru WRX

So, I’ve got a 2015 Subaru WRX, and I’ve been toying with the idea of customizing it a bit more. I’ve already got some aftermarket parts, and I’ve been eyeing vinyl wraps for a while now. I want to change up the look of the car without making it permanent like a full paint job. The idea is to add a sleek matte finish, maybe in a dark gray or a satin black, to give it that aggressive yet understated appearance. Something that’ll make it stand out, but still be classy, if you know what I mean.
Here’s the issue, though. I’m not exactly sure where to start. I’ve been browsing a bunch of online shops, but I keep getting overwhelmed with options. Some sites seem really generic, while others have insane shipping fees. It’s tough finding a balance between quality and price. I’ve heard that getting the right vinyl is crucial—something that’s easy to apply and durable enough to withstand the elements.
I’ve done a bit of research and found that the 3M 2080 series vinyl is a popular choice among car enthusiasts, but I’m not sure where to get it at a reasonable price. Also, does anyone have experience with other brands like VViViD or Avery? I’ve seen some reviews that seem positive, but I’m a little hesitant.
Another thing that’s been bothering me—applying vinyl! I’ve watched a few YouTube tutorials, but it seems like it can be tricky if you don’t get the right tools or do the prep work properly. I’m not a professional, but I want to at least give it a try myself. I’m hoping it’ll turn out decent, but I’ve read a lot about people struggling with bubbles, wrinkles, and just the overall stress of the whole process. Should I just bite the bullet and hire a pro, or is it manageable for a beginner?
I’ve also been thinking about how long it will last, especially since I live in an area with a lot of rain and sun. From what I’ve gathered, high-quality vinyl should last a couple of years at least, but I’d love to hear from people who’ve had their vinyl wraps for an extended period of time. How does the wear and tear look after a year or two? Does the color fade, or does it hold up well against the elements?
